Which is better, an Analog Voltmeter or Digital Multimeter?

These two types of voltmeters are quite different in how they work and how they display readings:

  1. Display Method:
Analog voltmeters use a mechanical pointer and scale, which makes it easy to see trends and fluctuations in voltage. Digital voltmeters just show the number on a screen.
  2. Accuracy:
Analog voltmeters can have parallax errors when you read the pointer, and the resolution is lower at higher ranges. Digital volttmeters are usually more accurate, with smaller errors, and the numbers are easy to read.
  3. Frequency Response:
Traditional analog AC voltmeters (rectifier type) can measure only the RMS value of sinusoidal signals and are sensitive to waveform distortion. Digital voltmeters, particularly digital multimeters, typically have a wider frequency response and can measure non-sinusoidal signals more accurately.
